Shandong HDPE geomembrane manufacturer introduces the development prospects of HDPE geomembrane anti-seepage technology
High density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane is widely used in landfills in China. HDPE geomembrane is a commonly used anti-seepage material in synthetic materials. Preventing environmental pollution caused by landfill gas and leachate is an important part of landfills, and careful consideration of them needs to be carried out throughout the entire lifecycle of landfill design, construction, operation, closure, and post closure management.
The bottom anti-seepage system is an important facility for preventing landfill gas and leachate pollution, as well as preventing groundwater and surface water from entering the landfill. The horizontal anti-seepage system of a landfill usually includes a filter layer, a drainage layer, a protective layer, and an anti-seepage layer from top to bottom. The anti-seepage layer is an important layer in the horizontal anti-seepage system, which functions to block the leachate from entering the landfill site and prevent it from migrating to the environment outside the landfill site by laying low-permeability materials in the landfill site; The anti-seepage layer can also block surface water and groundwater from entering the landfill site. The horizontal anti-seepage lining system can be divided into single-layer lining system, composite lining system, double-layer lining system, multi-layer lining system, etc. The anti-seepage layer is made up of anti-seepage materials with low permeability.
There are three main types of materials suitable for use in sanitary landfill anti-seepage systems: inorganic natural anti-seepage materials, natural and organic composite anti-seepage materials, and artificially synthesized organic materials. At present, most domestic garbage sanitary landfills use two-layer HDPE geomembrane for anti-seepage, and the design standards for toxic and hazardous waste landfills are even higher. In the early 1990s, China began using HDPE geomembrane as the main material for anti-seepage in landfill sites. HDPE geomembrane is not only used as the main material for the anti-seepage system of landfill bottom and side walls, but also widely used as the main anti-seepage layer of the sealing cover system and the anti-seepage lining of the leachate regulating pool. Therefore, the application of HDPE geomembrane anti-seepage technology in domestic landfill sites has a very broad development prospect. HDPE geomembrane has the following characteristics:
1. Good anti-seepage performance, permeability coefficient K<10-12 cm/s;
2. Good chemical stability and corrosion resistance to most chemical substances;
3. High mechanical strength;
4. Convenient for construction, a series of supporting construction welding methods have been developed, and the technology is relatively mature;
5. High cost-effectiveness;
6. Has strong adaptability to climate and can work well at low temperatures.
